National School Chaplaincy Program

Australian Prime Minister John Howard announced a $90 million program over three years to fund chaplains in schools to provide grief counselling and spiritual guidance to students.

To this, I have a quote:

Section 116 of the Australian Constitution

Commonwealth not to legislate in respect of religion

The Commonwealth shall not make any law for establishing any religion, or for imposing any religious observance, or for prohibiting the free exercise of any religion, and no religious test shall be required as a qualification for any office or public trust under the Commonwealth.

Australia is a secular state. What this government is doing is 'Christianising' young people by stealth. Grief counselling can be provided by counsellors with psychology training. It is not the role of the state to fund spiritual guidance as that should be a private matter between the individual, their parents and their church, temple, mosque etc.

.........ooooooooOOOOOOOOoooooooo..........

I ate my dinner tonight. My human is celebrating.
